Arri / Zeiss B Speed T1.4 prime lenses were first manufactured in West Germany and became one of the most popular lens choices of the 1970s and 80s due to their compact size and high performance at fast apertures. These are the original generation of Super Speeds and have remained popular to this day and are frequently paired with modern digital cameras. Known for the famous triangle shaped iris, as seen in the film Taxi Driver, their classic optical qualities and subtle vintage characteristics make a great match for today’s sensors and remain a favorite lens for many filmmakers. They were recently used on season 2 of the popular HBO series Euphoria. This set has had the coatings removed from the front and rear lens elements to provide lower contrast and more dramatic lens flares.
