ARRI/ZEISS Master primes were engineered to the highest standards for both optical and mechanical design. They are virtually free of all aberrations, including focus breathing. It is a mistake to think of Master Primes as being too clinical, when in fact they are capable of producing images that are as beatiful as they are sharp. They are slightly warm in tone, and have some of the smoothest bokeh of any lenses. They are at peak performance at T1.3, which is incredible.
