product details
Summilux-C primes are designed for high-end cinematography, offering T1.4 speed across the range. They produce sharp, detailed images with excellent contrast and highlight control, while still delivering a natural, filmic character and a painterly touch. They are compact for their speed and renowned for color, consistency and performance. The imagery is natural and lifelike, with special attention given to skin tones, where โcreamy sharpnessโ adds a unique look and feel. Sets include 12 focal lengths from 16mmโ135mm. A Leica Cine 180mm T2 Telephoto lens, available exclusively at Cine Visuals, is a perfect companion. Available to rent or sub-rent from Cine Visuals in full sets, partial sets, or as single lenses.

Leitz Summilux-C Lenses
Image Fidelity & Focus
Summilux-Cs combine Leicaโs renowned sharpness and micro-contrast with cinematic smoothness. They feature a multi-aspherical design and minimal breathing, with exceptionally low distortion and virtually no chromatic aberration. They are sharp, even wide open at T1.4, with shallow depth of field and creamy, rounded bokeh. Focus falloff is graceful, producing striking subject separation. Color reproduction is rich, natural, accurate, with smooth skin-tone rendering.
Handling & Adaptability
Summilux-Cs are relatively compact for T1.4 lenses, with consistent 95mm fronts (except the 135mm, which is 144) and matched focus and iris gears. Their lighter weight compared to competitors makes them adaptable for handheld and Steadicam work. They feature titanium PL mounts and metadata support.
Flare & Bokeh
Bokeh is creamy and consistent, while flares are subtle, elegant and controlled. Chromatic aberrations are negligible, even under challenging lighting.
Image Circle
An approximately 33mm image circle covers Super 35 sensors.
Cinematic Heritage
The Summilux-Cs marked Leicaโs entry into dedicated cinema optics, developed in collaboration with CW Sonderoptic when digital cinematography demanded improved resolution and low-light performance. Notable credits: The Revenant (2015), The Hunger Games series, Westworld, 1883, and Succession.
