Image Fidelity & Focus
Supreme Primes are known for their smooth, gentle focus fall-off, minimal focus breathing, and pleasing skin tone rendering.
Handling & Adaptability
Their lightweight yet durable designโoften under 1.6 kg for mid-range focal lengthsโmakes them well-suited for handheld, gimbal, and Steadicam work, while precise mechanics and accurate witness marks support demanding professional workflows. The small front diameter of 95mm on almost all lenses and standardized positioning of the focus and iris rings across the whole family facilitate fast and easy equipment changeout. Ultra smooth focus rotation, even in extreme temperatures, ensures easy setup and operation. Support for metadata transmission comes via the eXtended Data protocol.
Flare & Bokeh
Zeissโs advanced coatings resist flare and ghosting, and ensure excellent color matching across the set. Bokeh is described as smooth and elegant.
Image Circle
All the lenses across the family cover sensors from Super 35 and smaller to full frame and beyond (FF+), up to a 46.3mm image circle. Supreme Primes come in a wide range of nine focal lengths from 15mm to 200mm, most with a fast, consistent maximum aperture of T1.5. Capable of supporting such large-sensor cameras as the Sony Venice, ARRI Alexa LF, Red Monstro and Canon C700 FF.
Cinematic Heritage
Zeiss Supreme Primes, introduced in 2019, are the continuation of optical legacy that reaches back to 1846, when Carl Zeiss founded a workshop for precision mechanics and optics in Germany. More recently, Zeiss has been recognized by AMPAS with three Academy Awards in the Science and Engineering category, the latest in 2012.
