With a 2x squeeze, and designed for use with large format cameras, it enables ultra-long shots in anamorphic widescreen, a historically difficult type of shot. Image Fidelity & Focus
Optically, the lens delivers strong center sharpness with softer edges, warmth, controlled contrast, and expressive bokeh. Falloff is smooth, compressing space with long focal lengths while retaining anamorphic depth. They feature close focus capabilities not found in most anamorphic designs. Chromatic aberrations are controlled for such a long zoom, though edge aberrations can appear wide open.
Flare & Bokeh
Flares are well controlled, not providing elaborate horizontal streaks that are common with more vintage anamorphics.
Handling & Adaptability
At 7.2 lbs. (3.3 kg), the Scorpio zoom weighs significantly more than standard primes or zooms. It’s large, heavy, and requires studio-style support. Its ergonomics are solid, with cine-standard focus, iris, and zoom rings, but it is best suited for tripod or crane use. Adaptability is primarily PL mount, aligning with high-end cinema cameras.

The Service Vision Scorpio 2x 138–405mm anamorphic zoom covers Full Frame and VistaVision sensors (37.4 mm image circle). The set requires a 2.39:1 crop of the full frame sensor area.
Cinematic Heritage
Service Vision introduced the Scorpio 138–405mm in the 2010s to meet demands for wildlife, sports, and action cinematography in scope format. Historically, anamorphic zooms had rarely exceeded 300mm.
