P+S Technik Technovision Zooms
Zoom - 1.5x Anamorphic - Full Frame
product details
Alongside their 1.5x primes, P+S Technik also developed Technovision anamorphic zooms to provide filmmakers greater flexibility while retaining the unique Technovision anamorphic aesthetic. Like the primes, they allow 2.39:1 imagery with minimal cropping loss, combining scope personality with production efficiency. The Technovision 1.5x zooms include 40-70mm T3.2 and a 70-200mm T3.5 options, both covering full-frame sensors with a 1.5x squeeze. Available for rental or sub-rental at Cine Visuals.

About the P+S Technik Technovision Zoom Cinema Lenses
The P+S Technik Technovision 1.5x anamorphic zooms extend the Technovision system into variable focal lengths while maintaining a consistent anamorphic character. With a 1.5x squeeze, they produce a 2.39:1 image while preserving more sensor area, making them efficient for full-frame digital workflows without the need for heavy cropping.
They retain key anamorphic traits including oval bokeh, horizontal flares, and natural depth compression, but with a more controlled and refined expression than traditional 2x zooms. Sharper than many vintage anamorphic zooms, they deliver clean, balanced images with smooth falloff and minimal aberrations. Built with modern housings and robust mechanics, they provide practical flexibility for productions that need anamorphic continuity across both primes and zooms.
Image Fidelity & Focus
The Technovision 1.5x anamorphic zooms deliver consistent anamorphic character: mild horizontal flares, oval bokeh, and pleasing depth compression. They are sharper than many vintage anamorphic zooms, while edge falloff adds โScope-style depth. Focus falloff is smooth and contrast is medium. Breathing and chromatic aberration are well-controlled.
Flare & Bokeh
Flare behavior is elegant, producing cinematic streaks without overwhelming the frame. Bokeh is oval and remains natural across the zoom range.
Handling & Adaptability
Though larger than the primes, these zooms are relatively compact for anamorphics, making them more adaptable for handheld and Steadicam setups. The 40-70mm weighs 8.8 lbs. (4kg) and the 70-200mm weighs 12.2 lbs. (5.5 kg). They feature robust housings, PL mounts, and geared controls.
Image Circle
Technovision 1.5x anamorphic zooms cover Full Frame and VistaVision sensors with a 43.3mm image circle.
Cinematic Heritage
Technovision is a historic European anamorphic brand that partnered with P+S Technik to revive its designs for modern full-frame production. P+S Technik, founded in 1990 by former ARRI engineers, introduced the 1.5x zooms in the late 2010s, coinciding with the rise of large-format cameras.
