The Evolution 2x anamorphic primes from P+S Technik are a modern reimagining of vintage Kowa anamorphics, based on the original Kowa designs but rehoused for up-to-date precision and reliability. They are among the smallest, most compact anamorphics on the market today. Embracing imperfection, they deliver a retro, textured anamorphic look with moderate sharpness with soft edges, lower contrast, and expressive flares. Overall, the aesthetic is dreamlike and nostalgic โ true anamorphic scope with 1970s warmth and character in a modern housing. Image Fidelity & Focus
Evolution 2x anamorphic primes offer strong anamorphic character: oval bokeh, cinematic horizontal flares, lower contrast, and soft edges with a romantic glow. Wide open, they produce gentle sharpness with distinctive falloff. Stopped down, they tighten up for cleaner images. Aberrations and distortion have a retro cinematic personality, but are controlled compared to the original Lomos.
Handling & Adaptability
Built with modern housings, the Evolutions are robust and production-ready. They feature PL mounts, geared rings, and consistent mechanics, making them reliable on set. Their size and weight are moderate compared to other anamorphic primes, making them suitable for handheld as well as studio work.
