product details
The Evolution 2x anamorphic primes from P+S Technik are a modern reimagining of vintage Kowa anamorphics, based on the original Kowa designs but rehoused for up-to-date precision and reliability. They are among the smallest, most compact anamorphics on the market today. Embracing imperfection, they deliver a retro, textured anamorphic look with moderate sharpness with soft edges, lower contrast, and expressive flares. Overall, the aesthetic is dreamlike and nostalgic โ true anamorphic scope with 1970s warmth and character in a modern housing. The set includes 32mm, 40mm, 50mm, 75mm, 100mm and 135mm focal lengths, all with a 2x squeeze. Available for rental or sub-rental at Cine Visuals.

About the P+S Technik EVOLUTION Anamorphic Cinema Lenses
The P+S Technik Evolution 2x anamorphic primes deliver a true vintage anamorphic aesthetic rooted in classic Kowa optics, refined with modern housings for reliable on-set performance. They produce the expected 2x scope characteristics, including oval bokeh, pronounced horizontal flares, and a lower-contrast, softly rendered image that leans into a nostalgic, textured look.
Wide open, the lenses emphasize character with gentle sharpness and edge falloff, while stopping down brings improved clarity without losing their inherent personality. Compact for anamorphics, they are practical for handheld and studio use alike. This balance of vintage rendering and modern usability makes them a strong choice for productions seeking authentic anamorphic character without the limitations of original vintage glass.
ย
Image Fidelity & Focus
Evolution 2x anamorphic primes offer strong anamorphic character: oval bokeh, cinematic horizontal flares, lower contrast, and soft edges with a romantic glow. Wide open, they produce gentle sharpness with distinctive falloff. Stopped down, they tighten up for cleaner images. Aberrations and distortion have a retro cinematic personality, but are controlled compared to the original Lomos.
Handling & Adaptability
Built with modern housings, the Evolutions are robust and production-ready. They feature PL mounts, geared rings, and consistent mechanics, making them reliable on set. Their size and weight are moderate compared to other anamorphic primes, making them suitable for handheld as well as studio work.
Flare & Bokeh
Flare is bold, with signature horizontal streaks and veiling glow. Bokeh is classically oval.
Image Circle
The Evolution 2x anamorphic primes from P+S Technik cover Super 35 sensors.
Cinematic Heritage
P+S Technik, a German company known for rehousing and specialty optics, developed the Evolution series in the 2010s to preserve the Kowa anamorphic look while solving their mechanical shortcomings, thus bridging the gap between Soviet-era character and modern usability.
