Cooke Anamorphic/i 2x Special Flare lenses are a variation of the standard 2x anamorphic set, designed to produce stronger and more visible flare characteristics while maintaining the Cooke Look. They retain warm color reproduction, smooth contrast, and natural depth, but respond more aggressively to light sources, creating pronounced streaks and flare artifacts.
The lenses maintain a full 2x squeeze, producing traditional anamorphic traits such as oval bokeh and a wide cinematic field of view. The set spans focal lengths from 25mm to 300mm, including a macro option, and features consistent mechanics with Cooke /i Technology for lens metadata. This version is typically used when flare is intended to be a more prominent visual element without sacrificing overall image consistency.

Cinematic Heritage
Cooke introduced the Anamorphic/i 2x series to revive the cinematic grandeur of anamorphic optics for modern digital cameras. The SF line followed soon after, in response to cinematographers asking for more expressive flare characteristics reminiscent of vintage anamorphics, but with Cookeโs reliability. The result combines the best of both worlds: modern consistency with deliberate imperfection.
