product details
The Hasselblad Primes rehoused by P+S Technik transform classic medium-format still-photo optics into fully cinema-ready lenses with exceptional character and modern reliability. Originally known for their crisp resolution, smooth contrast, and elegant color reproduction, these Zeiss-designed Hasselblad lenses gain a new life through P+S Technikโs precise mechanical rebuild. Each focal length is fitted with standardized front diameters, extended focus rotation, 0.8 MOD gears, and robust PL housings, ensuring accurate marks and dependable performance on professional sets. While mechanically modern, the lenses retain the distinctive medium-format rendering that makes them desirableโdimensional depth, gentle falloff, and a refined vintage signature that complements todayโs large-format digital sensors. The result is a set of classic optics engineered for contemporary cinematography. Available to rent worldwide from Cine Visuals.

ย
Image Fidelity & Focus
These lenses are known for their exceptional resolving power and smooth focus falloff. Fine detail is rendered with clarity without appearing overly sharp, maintaining a pleasing, filmic softness. Based on Zeissโ optical footprint, these lenses maintain the sharpness and contrast with pleasing focus falloff on the edges of the frame. These lenses contain the legendary Zeiss-Yashica Contax glass as their base with a bit more soft rendering in skin tones.
Handling & Adaptability
P+S Technikโs rehousing ensures professional-grade mechanics with uniform gear placement and durable construction. The lenses are optimized for modern rigs, supporting a wide range of mounts and accessories. The rehousing introduces long, precise focus throws, enabling accurate and repeatable pulls, essential for controlled cinematic storytelling. Their ergonomic design allows for seamless integration into both studio and run-n-gun setups making them excellent for large technocrane rigs to Steadicam to handheld configurations.
Flare & Bokeh
The lenses produce a controlled yet expressive flare, adding character without overwhelming the image. Bringing in the early T* coatings from Zeiss between the 1930s admonition and the 1975 reworking, they bring a nice Golden Age of Hollywood mixture that is updated but pre-New Hollywood. Bokeh is smooth and rounded, with gentle transitions that enhance subject separation. This combination creates a refined, cinematic aesthetic well-suited for a wide range of visual styles especially compatible for the current Vintage Glass Renaissance and popularity of large-format cinematography.
Image Circle
One of the defining features of these lenses is their large image circle, designed to cover medium format sensors. This makes them highly versatile for use with Full-Frame and 65mm cinema cameras, offering greater compositional freedom and minimizing vignetting across formats. With an image circle covering 60mm, which is more than enough to cover the 57.3mm required for 65mm film, the 59.87mm to cover the ARRI Alexa 65, or 54.53mm for the Fujifilm Eterna 55 available at Cine Visuals.
Cinematic Heritage
Rooted in Hasselbladโs legacy of medium format photography and their collaboration with Zeissโ century-long optical experience and innovation, these lenses carry a distinct visual identity that reflects the stylistic expertise of both companies. Their rendering reflects a balance of precision and organic texture, offering images that feel both detailed and natural. This heritage translates seamlessly into motion, delivering a cinematic quality that stands apart from more clinical modern designs. As they have Zeiss glass as their base, they make excellent medium-format companions to any Zeiss set.
