Technical Specs Table
MasterBuilt SuperWide 14.5mm
Image Fidelity & Focus
The SuperWide 14.5mm provides an extremely wide, rectilinear angle of view with minimal distortion, with a fairly sharp and even field, slight distortion, and a pleasing multi-chromatic flare. Its design creates sharp central resolution with gradual softening toward the edges โ the image shows a noticeable falloff and loss of contrast towards the edges, emulating the character of classic cinema lenses like K35s and SuperSpeeds. This creates emphasis, enhances scale and immerses audiences in the image. Contrast is balanced, and depth of field is strikingly deep, although close focus bokeh is smooth.
Handling & Adaptability
Compact compared to most ultra-wides, the lens integrates smoothly with the MasterBuilt ecosystem. It features PL mounting, a 136mm front diameter, and cine-standard mechanics, with geared focus and iris rings and robust construction. Its moderate weight, 3.6 pounds, makes it suitable for handheld and gimbal use, while its coverage ensures compatibility with large-format digital cinema cameras.
Flare & Bokeh
Flare produces stylized streaks when the SuperWide is pointed toward light sources. Close-focus bokeh is smooth.
Image Circle
With an image circle of 48.46mm, the SuperWide 14.5 covers full frame sensors.
Cinematic Heritage
Introduced in the early 2020s, the SuperWide expanded MasterBuiltโs lineup while embodying the companyโs philosophy of blending artistry with modern professional usability and convenience.
