Mamiya 645 TLS Lenses
Prime - Spherical - Medium (65)
product details
AVAILABLE WITH OR WITHOUT SPEED BOOSTER.
Mamiya 645 primes bring the expansive look of medium-format still photography into full frame motion picture production. Using medium-format Sekor 6 glass originally used in the Mamiya 645 camera system, acknowledged rehousing masters True Lens Service of London incorporate modern cine housings and mechanics, transforming them into solid, cine-robust tools while preserving their unique aesthetic. An optional built-in speed booster allows the Mamiyas to perform at a faster aperture than their medium format donor lenses. The resulting spherical primes are characterized by rich, warm color reproduction and gentle sharpness that flatters faces. Cinematographers choose them for their smooth, painterly rendering and luxurious, cinematic feel. The rehoused set includes 17mm, 25mm, 32mm, 39mm, 50mm, 57mm, 78mm, 107mm and 150mm models. TLS Mamiya 645 lenses are available for rent or sub-rental from Cine Visuals as single lenses, partial sets, or full sets.

Image Fidelity & Focus
The Mamiya 645 Sekor C lenses feature a multi-layer coating and sharp optics from corner to corner โ bridging the classic vintage look and modern optical designs. Contrast is moderate, with a soft, organic look that tempers the sharpness of modern digital sensors. Sharpness is strongest in the center, with natural edge falloff that enhances subject isolation. Focus falloff is smooth, adding to a three-dimensional feel. Chromatic aberrations are visible wide open but add to the vintage charm.
Flare & Bokeh
Flares are bold, organic and often ghostly, producing rainbow arcs under direct light. Bokeh is creamy, rounded and three-dimensional, benefiting from the medium-format optics.
Handling & Adaptability
TLS rehousing transforms these still lenses into full cine tools, with LPL mounts, geared rings, and standardized housings. While the original lenses were fragile, rehoused versions are robust and production-ready. They cover full-frame sensors easily, and in some cases extend to larger formats, making them highly adaptable to modern cinema cameras. Weights range from 2.85 to 3.95 pounds.
Image Circle
Mamiya 645 Primes are highly adaptable, covering Full Frame (in speed booster mode) and larger formats up to medium format image circles (without the speed booster).
Cinematic Heritage
Mamiya introduced the 645 camera system in 1975, targeting professional still photographers who wanted a portable medium-format solution. Rediscovered by cinematographers in the 2010s during the vintage glass revival, these lenses were rehoused by TLS to preserve their character while ensuring reliability for cinema.
