Leitz Prime
Image Fidelity & Focus
Leitz Primes deliver a faithful, natural image that is free of artifice, closely mimicking human vision. This approach leaves the cinematographer free to build looks through lighting and image modification without aberration, flare or distortion. Classic Leica edge-to-edge sharpness, minimal breathing, and lack of chromatic aberration also bring benefits in virtual production and visual effects. Consistency, resolution and smooth focus roll-off achieve a natural look rather than a clinical feel. The widest 11 Leitz Primes feature a fast T1.8 aperture, allowing for low light shooting and shallow depth of field effects.
Handling & Adaptability
The 13 full frame lenses in the Leitz Prime set range from 18mm to 350mm. They have interchangeable mounts between PL and LPL, both with Cooke/i & Arri LDS-2 lens data, rear net holding, and Macrolux 114mm diopter macro compatibility. Matched focus and iris ring locations make lens changes quick and easy, and the front diameter matches the Leitz Cine family. Leitz Primes are color-matched to Leitz Zooms. Full compatibility with the stackable Leitz Macrolux diopters allows for powerful, larger than life macro shots with striking detail. A 112mm threaded front filter attachment is standard.
Flare & Bokeh
The 15-blade iris creates a circular bokeh in out-of-focus highlights.
Image Circle
Leitz Primes are designed to cover VistaVision and other large format sensors.
