product details
The IB/E Raptor Scope is a specialized periscope-style lens system designed for macro, probe, and unique perspective shots. It inherits the optical performance of the Raptor APO line, maintaining sharpness, high contrast, and apochromatic correction. Its long, narrow barrel enables extreme close-ups in confined or unusual spaces, producing immersive depth and highly controlled focus falloff. The system covers Full Frame/VistaVision sensors. The ability to capture textures and environments otherwise inaccessible makes it a favorite in commercials, product photography, and stylized narrative sequences requiring unusual, hyper-detailed perspectives. Available for rental or sub-rental at Cine Visuals.

IB/E Raptor Scope
Image Fidelity & Focus
The Raptor Scope maintains the apochromatic performance of the Raptor primes, preserving sharpness, color fidelity, and contrast in extreme imaging situations. Its optical relay system ensures that subjects retain depth and clarity even at unusual viewing angles. Focus falloff remains smooth, while aberrations are minimal, ensuring consistency for high-end visual effects.
Handling & Adaptability
The system is larger and more complex than a standard lens, and requires careful rigging. It allows 360-degree barrel rotation, giving cinematographers creative control over perspective. Adaptability is a strong point: it can be mounted on motion-control rigs, dollies, or handheld systems, and paired with Raptors for extreme close-ups or inserted into environments like bottles, machinery, or miniature sets. It boasts a T5.6 aperture in full frame mode, which is faster than most periscope lens options.
Flare & Bokeh
Bokeh retains the painterly character of the base Raptor lenses. Flaring is controlled.
Image Circle
The system covers Full Frame/VistaVision sensors (46.3mm image circle). A Super 35 Speed Booster optic is available to convert the lens to the super 35 format, thus allowing for a maximum aperture of T4.
Cinematic Heritage
IB/E developed the Raptor Scope as part of its mission to innovate in specialized cinematography. As commercials and visual effects increasingly demanded unique perspectives, a system was needed that could match cine macro quality while enabling unconventional camera angles. The Raptor Scope emerged as a companion to the Raptor Primes, expanding creative freedom. The Raptor Scope has been used in high-end commercials and visual effects-heavy features, capturing shots like traveling inside glasses of champagne, sliding across miniature landscapes, or peering into machinery.
