product details
IB/E Raptor APO Cine Macro Primes are a series of high-performance lenses designed for extreme close-up and macro cinematography. They deliver extremely high sharpness and contrast with apochromatic correction, minimizing color fringing even in challenging conditions. Cinematographers use them for beauty, tabletop, and VFX work where clean detail and faithful color reproduction are critical, but they still retain a natural, cinematic rendering. The set includes 60mm, 100mm, 150mm, and 180mm focal lengths, each capable of 1:1 magnification and optimized for full-frame sensors. Available for rental or sub-rental at Cine Visuals.

Image Fidelity & Focus
Raptor primes are apochromatic (APO), which means they correct for chromatic aberration across the visible spectrum. As a result, they deliver exceptional sharpness and micro-contrast even under extreme magnification, ensuring that fine details like textures, fibers, or surfaces are rendered with stunning clarity. Focus falloff is smooth, providing three-dimensional subject separation. Distortion is virtually nonexistent, making them reliable for visual effects integration and scientific-style imaging.
Handling & Adaptability
Despite their specialized optics, Raptor primes are compact relative to traditional macro cine lenses. They feature long focus throws, cine-standard housings, and uniform gear placement for professional rigs. Their adaptability makes them equally at home on tabletop commercials, visual effects stages, and narrative films requiring detailed insert shots. The range of focal lengths allows cinematographers to capture a wide variety of perspectives in macro work, from wide shots with dramatic depth to telephoto close-ups that isolate the tiniest details.
Flare & Bokeh
Bokeh is creamy and painterly, particularly in close-up contexts where depth of field is razor-thin. Flare is tightly controlled, though under strong backlight, the lenses can create subtle cinematic veils.
Image Circle
They cover Full Frame/VistaVision up to 46.3mm image circle, making them versatile for high-resolution digital cinematography across modern digital cinema cameras.
Cinematic Heritage
Introduced in the mid-2010s by German optics manufacturer IB/E, the Raptor series addressed a gap in the market: macro lenses designed specifically for cinema and not adapted from still photography. As digital cinematography advanced, demand for ultra-high-resolution macro imagery surged, particularly in food, luxury, and product advertising. The Raptors became the gold standard for this niche. Raptors have been used extensively in commercials for brands like luxury watches, high-end beverages, and cosmetics, where detailed textures are essential, and in films with visual effects sequences requiring macro imagery, such as miniatures or fantastical environments.
