P+S Technik Skater Scope
Image Fidelity & Focus
The Skater Scope delivers clean, reliable image fidelity, but because it uses relay optics and interchangeable front elements, the rendering resolution and contrast depend on the configuration. Typically, it produces pleasing falloff and separation when paired with compatible lenses. Focus control is precise, with the relay path engineered to maintain sharpness even at extreme tilt and rotation angles.
Handling & Adaptability
Unlike a traditional lens, the Skater Scope works as a modular relay lens system that accepts a variety of taking lenses. As a result, usable focal lengths are determined by the lenses mounted to the front. Focus mechanics are precise despite the unconventional design, offering smooth pulls and reliable control even in tight setups.
Flare & Bokeh
Falloff and bokeh characteristics are dependent on the chosen taking lens. Flares can be introduced creatively thanks to the systemโs ability to orient optics in unusual ways. Flare characteristics can be pronounced when pushed, with reflections and streaks that add character, though the optics are engineered to retain contrast and clarity under most conditions.
Image Circle
The image circle is sufficient to cover standard Super 35 sensors, making it well-suited for mainstream cinema cameras, with adaptability for certain larger formats depending on the paired optics.
Cinematic Heritage
Historically, the Skater Scope is a descendant of P+S Technikโs larger T-Rex SuperScope โ a pioneering periscope-style lens system โ and represents the companyโs long-standing innovation in specialty optics for creative cinematography.
