About the Service Vision Scorpio Prime Cinema Lenses
The Service Vision Scorpio 2x anamorphic primes combine modern optical precision with classic large-format anamorphic character. Designed with a multi-aspheric rear anamorphic structure, they deliver sharp, consistent images with minimal breathing and distortion, while maintaining a natural, cinematic contrast and smooth focus falloff.
They produce hallmark 2x anamorphic traits including strong oval bokeh and pronounced horizontal flares, but with a cleaner, more controlled rendering than vintage lenses. Covering full-frame and VistaVision formats, they are adaptable across modern cinema cameras while retaining compatibility with Super 35. Built with robust mechanics and consistent housings, the Scorpio set offers a reliable, production-ready anamorphic solution with a balanced blend of character and precision.
ย
Image Fidelity & Focus
Service Vision Scorpio anamorphic primes use a multi-aspheric rear anamorphic design, which results in virtually no breathing or distortion. They produce excellent field sharpness, warmth, and close focus, and maintain sharpness across the frame, rivaling contemporary glass. Contrast is smooth, avoiding the harshness of clinical lenses. Focus falloff is gentle and smooth, producing pleasing subject isolation. Aberrations are minimal thanks to advanced coatings, but present enough to feel organic.
Handling & Adaptability
Scorpio primes are large but manageable, with robust housings and standardized mechanics. They feature PL mounts and full-frame coverage, adaptable across ARRI LF, Sony Venice, and RED Monstro systems. Their precise mechanics make them reliable for demanding productions. They are designed to be compact and lightweight, making them suitable for use on gimbals, drones, or handheld cameras.
Flare & Bokeh
Service Vision Scorpio anamorphic primes deliver strong oval bokeh and classic blue horizontal flares.
Image Circle
Service Vision Scorpio anamorphic primes cover Full Frame and VistaVision sensors (46.5mm image circle) and their traditional 2x squeeze is also suitable for the super 35 format.
Cinematic Heritage
Service Vision, based in Barcelona, has long specialized in anamorphic optics and specialty cameras. The Scorpio primes were introduced in the 2010s.
