product details
The Fujinon Premista series is Fujifilm’s flagship line of large-format cinema zoom lenses, created for full-frame and VistaVision-sized digital sensors, in response to the industry’s rapid adoption of large-format cameras such as the ARRI Alexa LF, Sony Venice, and RED Monstro. They are touted by Fujinon as the first full-frame zooms that truly rival prime lenses in performance. The current lineup consists of three lenses, which together range from 19mm to 250mm: the Premista 19–45mm T2.9 (ultra-wide zoom), the Premista 28–100mm T2.9 (standard zoom) and the Premista 80–250mm T2.9–3.5 (telephoto zoom). Available for rental or sub-rental at Cine Visuals.

Image Fidelity & Focus
Premistas are designed to be prime-like in performance, with exceptionally high resolution and contrast across the frame. Even at wide open apertures, they deliver crisp detail from center to corner, critical for 6K and 8K acquisition. Contrast is rich but not overly harsh, preserving dynamic range and shadow detail – moderate, and balanced for digital sensors. Sharpness is excellent with natural roll-off. Color reproduction is neutral and highly consistent across the set, matching Fujinon’s long-standing reputation for natural, cinematic color. Chromatic aberration is nearly invisible, even at high-contrast edges—a remarkable achievement for zooms of this range. Falloff is smooth and gradual, with minimal vignetting on full-frame sensors.
Handling & Adaptability
Premistas are surprisingly compact for large-format zooms. The 28–100mm and 80–250mm each weigh about 3.8 kg (8.4 lbs), while the 19–45mm is slightly heavier at 3.7 kg (8.1 lbs). All three share consistent 114mm front diameters, standardized focus/iris/zoom gear positions, and robust PL mounts, making them straightforward for professional crews to handle. Focus rotation is 280°, offering precise control.
Flare & Bokeh
Flare control is excellent thanks to Fujifilm’s advanced multi-layer coatings – cinematic and controlled, though under direct light they produce elegant, well-contained ghosting that adds character without compromising clarity. Bokeh is creamy, rounded and slightly softer than Premiers, aided by a 13-blade iris, with a natural depth-of-field transition that enhances separation on large-format sensors.
Image Circle
Full frame/VistaVision (46.3 mm), ensuring coverage for virtually all full-frame and VistaVision cameras, while maintaining backward compatibility with Super 35 in crop modes.
Cinematic Heritage
The Premistas mark Fujifilm’s bold entry into the large-format cinema lens market. They are considered to be some of the first zoom lenses that could confidently replace primes on major productions, offering both efficiency and uncompromised image quality.
