Straight lines outside the center distort heavily into a fisheye projection, an intentional part of the visual signature. At the image center, the HAL 220 resolves with surprising sharpness and clarity, maintaining high resolution for full-frame and VR capture applications. Toward the edges, however, fidelity gradually softens, with increased stretching and falloff that accentuate the immersive, enveloping effect. Chromatic aberrations and vignetting are well controlled for such a specialized optic, though not entirely absent. Clean rendering that integrates well into postproduction pipelines for VR stitching and 360° capture. Focus adjustment is minimal because the extreme depth of field at such wide focal lengths renders most of the scene in focus, simplifying operation but limiting creative shallow-focus effects. But the design allows for precise adjustment where needed, particularly in close-focus applications.
